Buker Elementary School
Several items of interest to school families are up for consideration at town meetings next week. Please attend to ensure our vibrant school community is part of the decision-making process.
In both towns:
- Vote to consider purchasing new heating boilers for the Buker elementary school for $930,000. The oil boilers, from 1982, aren’t energy-efficient. One is broken and leaking.
- Vote to consider purchasing new heating boilers and new windows (aka a “glass curtain”) at the Winthrop elementary school for $2,240,000. The current gas boilers, from ’82 and ’89, aren’t energy-efficient. The windows, from 1959, are single-paned and rusted.
For Hamilton voters only:
Vote to approve using Community Preservation Act funds to replace the pool at Patton Park. (Hamilton participates in the CPA program with a 2% surcharge and state matching grants.) To learn about this project, visit www.friendsofpattonpark.org.
